   Travel Insurance
Information for Students Travelling Abroad - Whether you've completed your course at college or university, you're simply taking a year out or even a fortnight holiday in the summer holidays, you should always consider travel insurance.

Now you need travel insurance, you really shouldn't go anywhere without it.

Is your head ready to explode with things to do B4UGO! But you are lucky to own a memory like a sieve?

Well look no further, follow our guide to make sure you have everything you need for a fantastic experience.

One of the most if not the most important thing is to get Travel Insurance, don't skip on it thinking you could have a few good nights out for the money, as it is vital and if things go wrong and you have no insurance then there could be no nights out for you in a long time.
Here's a little fact for you: UK residents make over 58 million overseas trips each year but as many as 1 in 7 of them fail to take out adequate insurance!

It is best to keep these few things in mind:

* credit card accident cover, home insurance or private health cover is unlikely adequate cover
* a cheaper policy may have less cover so shop around!

It's often cheaper to find it online, if you go somewhere like confused.com it will compare prices so you can find reasonably priced insurance but it's often better to pay a little more so that your luggage is covered and you get more for your money.

You will be bombarded with all the different types and will find quite a variation of prices if you keep in mind that an a typical travel insurance policy from one of the big company Travel agencies over one year might cost as much as £500. Don't take the first offer that you get do shop around, the website below allows you to compare Travel insurance costs so click here.

If you are thinking of a long stay and working abroad then check the rates of Endsleigh (must be a student) and Travellers insurance Association (part of Commercial Union) as they have policies, which will cover you whilst you are working abroad unlike most other Travel Insurance Policies.

If you make quite a few trips a year, Oh to dream then it is best to consider taking out an annual multi-trip insurance to save time, money and effort.

Whilst considering all the different policies make sure you know what it covers and if it is adequate, your insurer will let you know all this but here is a guide to what it should cover:

* The whole time that you are away, whether that is a day or a year
* Any activities or sports you might do. If you want to do that sky dive but some activities are excluded from many policies. Many insurers will extend cover, if requested, otherwise shop around for a specialist policy, click here to find more info.
* The medical and health cover is very important. It should be for a minimum of £1 million for Europe and £2 million worldwide. It must include cover for emergency medical treatment, hospitalisation and repatriation to find more information on this click on the this link.
* Personal Liability for injury or damage to others and their property, for more info click here.
* Cancellation if you have to cancel or abandon your trip. Cancellation cover should start as soon as you book your trip, if you would like to find out more information in this then click here.
* 24 hour emergency service and assistance if things go wrong the assistance company will help you to sort everything out. For more info click here.
* Possession Cover, including money and documents to specified limits, click here for more info.

Check to see if your policy also covers:

* Personal Accident, money paid on death or permanent disability click on this link to find out more: Legal expenses - to help you pursue compensation for damages following personal injury.

Remember to check the conditions and exclusions for example:

* Most policies will not cover drink-related incidents.
* Most policies do not cover drug related incidents.
* You must take reasonable care of your possessions or your policy will not cover you.

So you think you have found the right insurance for you which covers all those bungee jumps you want to do then there is just one more thing to make sure you do. Remembering honesty is the best policy!

Tell your insurer of any current or past medical conditions or relatives heath that may stop you from travelling otherwise not declaring may invalidate your policy.

Sorry not quite finished yet, just four things to keep in that mind of yours B4UGO!

* Make sure you take your policy and the 24-hour emergency phone number with you.
* Make sure you know what to do in the event of a problem.
* Some insurance companies insist that you call their assistance company as soon as possible after a problem arises.
* If anything does happen make sure you keep as much paperwork as possible - tickets, receipts, medical bills, police reports etc - to help prove that what you're claiming for actually happened.

OK all done! You have passed this section
